The Magic of Plants (1.5 Hours) Ages 8–18
While we may not have a magic greenhouse with incredible plants that can be used in Potions class, we do have an array of beautiful, useful, and amazing plants that might just rival those at Hogwarts! Come learn more about the amazing plants of literature and of our own Appalachian Mountains! (This is a class in botanicals with a fun twist, allowing students to learn how plants have been used for medicines, etc.)

World War II on the Homefront (1.5 Hours) Ages 10–18
During World War II, the soldiers on the front lines were not the only ones supporting the cause. Civilians, including kids, were a vital part of the effort. Come join historical interpreters The Time-Traveling Hardys to learn about programs like the Victory Gardens, Victory Book Campaigns, Aircraft Warning Service, and other vital efforts that were supported by kids on the home front to help soldiers to win the war!

I Can Be a Paramedic Officer (2 Hours) Ages 6–11
EMS Program Director Josh Cooke will introduce you to the world of EMS. You will get an up-close look at the day-to-day operations of an EMT/ Paramedic. You will get to spend time looking at our ambulance and also spend time in the back of our brand-new ambulance classroom simulator. There you will work your way through a simulated EMS call and do actual skills on our High-Fidelity Mannequin. If your dream is to be a Paramedic, then you don’t want to miss this! Nursing Simulation Coordinator Elizabeth Payne will introduce you to the world of Nursing. You will get an up-close look at what it is like to be a nurse. Fun with Fusing—Fused Glass Kids Camps (8 Hours) Ages 8–14
Have fun while creating unique one-of-a-kind pieces that you can proudly display or give as gifts. Students will complete 4 different fused glass projects over the course of the 4 weeks. They will learn nipping and cutting of glass, as well as the fusing process and safety of glass handling. The first 3 projects will be available during the following weeks' class and the final project will be available for pick up one week after camp ends.

Caricature Art (9 Hours) Ages 11–18
“Caricatures are fun, silly and they make us laugh (great fun for birthday cards and other events)! This highly regarded art form is easy to learn and makes great gifts for any special occasion.”
During this class we will learn about 1. Characteristics: learning to ‘see’ them, 2. Preliminary sketches: experimentation and 3. Final drawing: lines, shading, and color. Students should bring several photos – different angles of the same subject, large enough to see details. Focus on “Head and Face” only.

CSI for a Day (3 Hours) Ages 8–12
Students will be introduced to the world of forensic science and criminal investigations. Learn the importance of collecting evidence using scientific principals and hands-on techniques.
Students will conduct experiments dealing with DNA, fingerprinting, impressions, casting, and crime scene analysis.

Earth to Sky Park Junior Explorers (9 Hours) Ages 6–9
Summer is just around the corner and children can come be an Earth to Sky junior explorer. From the ground to the stars that abound, there is so much around! Join an Earth to Sky camp counselor for a three-day summer day camp at the beautiful Mayland Earth to Sky Park. Children will have the opportunity to combine developmental sports, outdoor learning, science, and the arts while learning about a variety of different nature topics that are sure to put some a stop to that summer drain brain! Campers will need to wear appropriate clothes to be outside, closed toe shoes, bring sunscreen, and a water bottle. A mid-morning snack will be provided.

Ecology, Geology, and Navigation (9 Hours) Ages 6-11
Spend three mornings at the Earth to Sky Park conducting ecological and geological explorations of the Park. Go on a scavenger hunt for different plant and animal species, learn how to track animals, identify rocks and minerals, navigate with and without a compass and go on a treasure hunt using skills that you learn! Campers will need to wear appropriate hiking clothes and closed toe shoes, bring a water bottle, and sunscreen. A mid-morning snack will be provided.

Junior Space Ranger Camp (12 Hours) Ages 6–11
Junior Space Rangers will craft upcycled rocket filled jet packs, cardboard space shuttles and space helmets to explore the solar system in the Arthur Planetarium and Earth to Sky Park classroom. Jr. Space Rangers will watch kid friendly STEAM programming in the Planetarium and learn about space travel, the moon, planets, and the cosmos. A special treat of astronaut ice cream will be served on the last day. Campers need to wear closed toe shoes and bring a water bottle. A mid-morning snack will be provided.
