Mayland Faculty Present AI Integration Model at Statewide CTE Conference
Mayland Community College is being recognized across North Carolina for its leadership in integrating artificial intelligence into Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
On March 30, Dr. Keegan Anderson, Vice President of Instruction, joined Elizabeth Dellinger and Kaden Smith to present at the AI in the CTE Classroom conference, where instructors from community colleges across the state gathered to explore the future of teaching and workforce preparation.
Their session, “Future Work Ready AI: Mayland Community College’s Blueprint for CTE Innovation,” highlighted how Mayland is embedding AI into real coursework across programs—not as a standalone topic, but as part of how students learn within their field.
The presentation featured Mayland’s train-the-trainer model, which equips faculty to integrate generative AI into high-demand career clusters, along with five structured training modules designed to build instructional capacity and support long-term growth.
Attendees were introduced to practical tools being used in Mayland classrooms, including the RICCE framework for prompting and clearly defined AI usage levels ranging from “No AI” (AIx) to “AI Augmented” (AI+). These tools help students understand not just how to use AI, but when and why it should be used in their work.
The session also highlighted how Mayland is fostering internal mentorship among faculty and building a scalable model that can be shared across institutions through a digital resource hub.
