The Paramedic-to-ADN program is an advanced placement option in the Associate Degree Nursing program. The program transitions paramedics into the role of registered nurse by providing the knowledge, skills, and strategies to integrate safety and quality into nursing care, to practice in a dynamic environment, and to meet individual needs that impact health, quality of life, and achievement of potential. Coursework includes and builds upon the domains of healthcare, nursing practice, and the holistic individual. Content emphasizes the nurse as a member of the multidisciplinary care team, providing safe, individualized care, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and informatics. The Paramedic-to-ADN Program is a three-semester hybrid program. Upon completion of the Paramedic-to-ADN Program, graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Employment opportunities are vast within the global healthcare system and may include positions within acute, chronic, extended, industrial, and community healthcare facilities. Upon completion of this degree, a bachelor's degree in Nursing can be earned through partnership agreements with select colleges/universities. Please see the special admissions requirements beginning on page (p.51) of this catalog.
