The Mayland Community College eSports Program was created to provide the community with a meaningful program that encourages personal growth, teamwork, and memorable experiences.
Entering its inaugural season, the program brings together students from across Mitchell, Avery, and Yancey Counties through competition, collaboration, and shared purpose.
The program blends modern technology with essential life skills including communication, discipline, leadership, strategy, and teamwork.

The Mayland Highlanders eSports team launched its inaugural season during the Fall 2025 semester with seven active players.
The team competes across multiple team-based and individual titles that emphasize strategy, communication, and skill development. Mayland actively competes in the PlayVS UREC Collegiate League, hosts in-house tournaments, and participates in online competitive platforms such as FACEIT.
Mayland students have competed against established collegiate programs, including Colorado State University and Babson College (Massachusetts), gaining valuable experience and recognition at the national level. These early accomplishments reflect the program’s momentum and the high level of commitment displayed by its players and supporters.
