Important Announcements

Mayland Financial Aid Operations

In order to comply with guidance from state and local officials to proactively limit the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the health and safety of students and employees, the Mayland Financial Aid Department will be working from a distance, rather than in office, for the NEXT TWO WEEKS.

During this time, our department will communicate any important announcements through student email, as well as our Important Announcements web page. Please feel free to contact your financial aid representatives via email at finaid@mayland.edu. If you contact a representative via telephone, please leave a voicemail with your name, telephone number and a good email address if you do not have access to a Mayland email address. We will primarily respond to questions and concerns via email but we are able to respond to telephone numbers if an email is not available.

At the end of the next two weeks, March 30, 2020, Mayland Community College will re-evaluate the situation and determine our next course of action.

Mayland Federal Work Study Program

For the NEXT TWO WEEKS, if you have work time scheduled for your Federal Work Study, we ask that you DO NOT report to these assignments. We will be sure to inform your supervisors of this request.

At the end of the next two weeks, March 30, 2020, Mayland Community College will re-evaluate the situation and determine our next course of action.

If you find you have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your Financial Aid Department at finaid@mayland.edu.

March Courses beginning on or before March 01 March 31, 2020
April Courses beginning on April 01 April 29, 2020

Following are common situations that result in the reduction of financial aid:
  • Student is attempting a previously passed course for the third time.
  • Student is taking a course that is not part of his/her program of study.
  • Student is issued a no show grade.
  • Student officially withdraws or is administratively withdrawn on or before the census date (10% point of a particular course).
  • Student is enrolled in the Welding Technology Diploma or Practical Nursing Diploma (LPN). These programs are subject to the Department of Education’s clock hour to credit hour conversion, making the programs eligible for partial financial aid.
  • Student is enrolled in the Basic Law Enforcement Training Certificate (BLET). This program is subject to the Department of Education’s clock hour calculations, which means the student will receive financial aid based on their hours of completion for the program.

Class attendance directly impacts financial aid eligibility.
