New Federal Student Ais (FSA) ID to Replace FAFSA PIN

This year, Federal Student Aid will implement a new login process for student- and borrower-based websites, including the FAFSA and the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).

To comply with new security requirements, Federal Student Aid is making this change which will eliminate the need for individuals to enter personal identifiers such as name, Social Security number, and date of birth when accessing federal student aid information.

The FSA ID - a username and password - has replaced the Federal Student Aid PIN and must be used to log in to certain U.S. Department of Education websites such as the FAFSA website.  Your FSA ID confirms your identity when you access your financial aid information and electronically sign Federal Student Aid documents.  If you do not already have an FSA ID, you can create one here

FSA is working to ensure that the transition from the PIN to the FSA ID is as seamless as possible, and existing users will be able to link their PIN information to the FSA ID.

Using Electronic Processes for Financial Aid Notifications

Occasionally, Mayland Community College will communicate with students via campus email or via personal email addresses provided by the students.  No action is necessary for students to opt-in to the email form of communication.  However, students who prefer to receive only paper communication from the Financial Aid Department must complete the Email Opt-Out form which is available upon request.  The type of notification to be provided through email could be (but is not limited to) information concerning Satisfactory Academic Progress, Financial Aid Appeal decisions, and requests for financial aid documents needed for processing.  Formal communication such as the Financial Aid award letter will be sent in writing, via the US Postal Service.

Financial Aid Made Easy

Applying for financial aid can be intimidating.  You know you should apply, but submitting the FAFSA can be complicated and confusing.  The FAFSA Tutorial can help!  This tutorial gives you step by step instructions for submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), making it as easy as 1-2-3.

Mayland's school code is 011197.  Use it when completing your FAFSA.
