Earth to Sky Park Summer Camps - Summer 2024

Junior Explorers (9 Hours) Ages 10–13

Explore nature and the universe at our Earth to Sky junior explorer camp! Kids will dive into outdoor learning, science, and the arts, covering topics from ecology to astronomy. They'll experience hands-on activities like scavenger hunts, animal tracking, and navigational challenges, all while discovering the beauty of the park. Instructors will guide campers through ecological and geological explorations, ensuring a mix of fun and education to combat summer brain drain. Remember to dress for outdoor adventure, wear closed-toe shoes, and bring sunscreen and a water bottle. A snack is provided.

7/9 – 7/11, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday,   9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Junior Space Ranger Camp (12 Hours) Ages 6–11

Junior Space Rangers will craft upcycled rocket filled jet packs, cardboard space shuttles and space helmets to explore the solar system in the Arthur Planetarium and Earth to Sky Park classroom. Jr. Space Rangers will watch kid friendly STEAM programming in the Planetarium and learn about space travel, the moon, planets, and the cosmos. Campers need to wear closed toe shoes and bring a water bottle. A mid-morning snack will be provided.

7/16–7/19, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday,   9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Telescope and Astronomy 101 (6 Hours) Ages 18+

Join Mayland Community College’s Space Rangers for a three-night “grown-up Space Camp” experience! We will be looking at the different types of telescopes, learning how they work, comparing earth-bound versus space telescopes, seeing how weather and space work, discovering North Carolina’s surprising astronomy history, learning how to recognize constellations, and much more! Who says the kids get to have all the space fun?

8/13–8/15, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday,  6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
