Mayland Enterprise Corporation
The Mayland Enterprise Corporation (MEC), a 501(c) 3 organization, was founded in 2018 and initially funded by non-tax dollars from the college's auxiliary services.
It supports Mayland Community College (MCC) through the development of entrepreneurial services to help offset the impact of dwindling state funding. It is committed to supporting the MCC mission of being the educational gateway to the residents of our three counties. MEC generates revenue buy operating several business ventures in non-FTE projects and services to support the college allowing MCC to stay focused on its educational mission and the MCC Foundation to stay focused on its fundraising mission.
As the MEC begins to grow and take on new business ventures, it is anticipated to generate substantial funding to support the needs of our students, faculty, staff, and community. MEC will initially grow and maintain an adequate reserve fund to ensure it can remain self-supporting. Once that is accomplished excess funds will be transferred annually to MCC. We currently operate three businesses along with subsidiaries included in the project list below with room to expand.
