The Practical Nursing program at Mayland is a comprehensive, hybrid evening program tailored for the modern, busy student. This accredited one-year program blends rigorous hybrid instruction with hands-on clinical experience, providing flexibility to manage other commitments while preparing for a rewarding career in nursing. Courses include pharmacology and specialty areas of nursing like obstetrics and mental health.
Beyond the foundational knowledge, the program places strong emphasis on critical thinking, communication, and ethical decision-making, ensuring our graduates emerge as well-rounded professionals. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN), an essential step towards becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Admission Requirements
This program is offered in a hybrid format, combining online coursework with weekly in-person class meetings on campus and clinical rotations at designated clinical sites. Attendance on campus and at assigned clinical sites is required. Clinical placements are predetermined and cannot be changed to accommodate individual locations. Applicants should carefully consider the travel distance and time commitment needed to meet these on-campus and clinical requirements, as these cannot be waived or modified.
Class meetings and clinicals:
Practical Nursing - Meets twice each week, online coursework, and weekend clinicals.
LPN to ADN - Meets once each week, online coursework, and weekend clinicals.
Paramedic to ADN - Meets once each week, online coursework, and weekend clinicals.
Applicants will be given specific meeting days and times and clinical schedule at program orientation. Orientation is scheduled near the end of the semester prior to beginning the program.
