EMT-Paramedic Bridge (1056 Hours)

This course is designed to train the EMT in more advanced medical treatments of patients. This course teaches patient assessment and advanced life support techniques. Paramedics can work in private and public business and ambulance services both ground and air. Successful completion of this course allows the student to take the North Carolina Paramedic Exam.

Training Includes:

  • 556 classroom hours, 300 field hours, and 200 clinical hours
  • Legal aspects of patient care
  • Driving & Truck Maintenance
  • Advanced patient assessment
  • Advanced airway management
  • Advanced cardiac emergency treatment
  • I.V. therapy
  • Oxygen and drug administration
  • Shock
  • Skull, spine, and chest injuries
  • Neonatal and pediatric emergencies
  • Transferring patients to medical facilities

Admission Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Submit a copy of high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Documentation of successful completion of college-level English, college-level Reading, and a college-level Math course OR successful completion of a college placement test such as Accuplacer
  • Provide documentation of current EMT certification
  • Submit documentation of immunizations
  • Mandatory attendance of orientation class: 1/7/20 @ 6:30 p.m. MCC Main Campus
  • Successfully complete EMS A&P or provide proof of taking A&P
  • Clinical sites will require background checks and drug screening

Cost of Class:

  • Tuition/Registration: $180 (may be waived with appropriate documentation)
  • Textbook and workbook: $250 (subject to change)
  • Liability insurance (required) $13
  • Cost of CPR card (a current card must be valid through the end date of class)
  • Accident insurance for the individual student: $1.20
  • Testing site Castle Worldwide: $68
