College Preparation

The Mayland Community College Adult Education Program offers free classes to help students prepare for success in college or further training, including college placement tests such as the North Carolina Accuplacer®.

Free College Preparation classes are offered during day and evening hours at locations across Mitchell, Avery, and Yancey Counties, providing instruction in reading comprehension, writing and sentence skills, and mathematics skills to help students prepare for higher education. These classes are available to adults age 18 and above or for students as young as 16 with notarized documentation from parents and public/private/home school officials.

Adults may schedule an enrollment appointment by visiting one of our class locations during operating hours. Click here to view the current College Preparation Schedule and Locations. Students may also study to prepare for college through our Fast Track Online class.
