GED® Preparation / High School Equivalency
The Mayland Community College Adult Education Program offers free classes to assist students in preparing for high school equivalency testing, including the GED® and the HiSET®. Students who successfully complete one of the approved test batteries earn the North Carolina High School Equivalency Diploma, allowing them to enter college, pursue further training, or obtain employment.
MCC is also an official testing center, offering multiple testing opportunities to students each week.
FREE preparation classes are offered during day and evening hours at locations across Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey Counties, providing instruction in reading, writing, and math skills to help students prepare for the tests. These classes are available to adults age 18 and above or for students as young as 16 with notarized documentation from parents and public/private/home school officials.
To enroll, just stop by one of our class locations during operating hours. Click here to view the current GED Schedule and Locations. Students may also prepare for the tests through our Fast Track Online class.
