Pharmacy Technician (188 Hours)

Prepare today for a career as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or retail setting. Salary Outlook for this field of employment is up to $38,560.00. You will gain skills and knowledge to qualify for an entry level position and be prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) for national certification. This class is hybrid, meaning you will have one day in class accompanied by online work.

  • Pharmaceutical abbreviations, measurements, and calculations
  • Drug forms and administration
  • Prescription reading and interpretation
  • Retail and hospital pharmacy practices
  • Compounding, medication safety, and dispensing
  • Preparation of sterile IV products
  • Customer service and human relations
  • Prescription drug uses, dosages, side effects, and precautions

Admission Requirements

  • Provide proof of high school completion (high school transcripts, copy of high school diploma, or copy of completion of GED requirements)
  • Demonstrate reading and math proficiency either by college transcripts, a computerized placement test, or the CASAS reading test with scores of at least 10th grade
  • Provide two forms of identification (Government issued ID card and social security card) at registration
  • Physical and emotional ability to carry out pharmacy activities: lifting, stretching, and standing for long periods.
