Medical Coding (150 Hours)

Prepare for entry level employment in billing and coding and to sit for the AAPC exam!  Students who successfully complete the course will be equipped to code diseases, surgeries and medical procedures utilizing ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems; as well as organize, analyze and technically examine health insurance claims for reimbursement and rejected claims for resubmission.

  • Medical Terminology
  • Patient encounters
  • Scheduling
  • Handling patient files
  • Medical billing and coding concepts
  • Explore HIPPA rules and regulations related
    to privacy and security of patient information

Admissions Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Provide proof of high school completion
    (high school transcripts, copy of high
    school diploma, or copy of completion of
    GED requirements).
  • Demonstrate reading proficiency either by
    college transcripts, computerized placement
    test, or a CASAS reading test.
