This course is the required course for NC Early Childhood Credential, introducing students to the core concepts of early childhood education, the variety of educational settings for young children, and the importance of professionalism in creating intentional, developmentally appropriate experiences for each child.  The curriculum delves into theoretical foundations, adheres to national early learning standards and incorporates the NC Foundations for Early Learning and Development.  Students will explore state regulations, understand different program types and examine career options within the field.  The course emphasizes professionalism, ethical conduct and the creation of quality inclusive environments.  It also guides students in designing curriculum that is responsive to the needs of each child and their family.  Upon completion, students should be equipped to design a comprehensive career/professional development plan, create appropriate learning environments, develop schedules and craft activities plans that cater to the developmental needs of young children.  This course sets the stage for a rewarding career in early childhood education, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to meet the needs children and families they will serve.
