  • 7.15.2021-We are excited to announce a new partnership with Follett! We will begin utilizing the Follett ACCESS program for the Fall 2021 semester for all of our adult curriculum students. For more information, please see the Follett ACCESS section listed below.

Location and Hours of Operation

The Mayland Community College Bookstore is located in Phillips Hall on the Spruce Pine Campus.

Our hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Summer hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We are closed on Fridays. Please reference Mayland’s academic calendar to determine the dates for the Summer semester at https://www.mayland.edu/blog/catalog_post/academic-calendar/.

Textbook Purchase and Rental

Follett Access

MCC Bookstore is excited to announce a new program partnership with Follett, Follett ACCESS! This program allows students to rent or purchase textbooks at a reduced cost. The charge for the required textbooks and supplies will be posted directly to the student’s tuition and fees bill and paid along with your semester tuition and fees charges out of pocket or with financial aid.

Benefits of Follett ACCESS include:

  • Having required course materials makes it easier to be more successful in class
  • Receive all course materials through a stress-free purchasing experience
  • Easily access, manage and use digital course materials
  • Minimize the time spent searching for deals on course materials
  • Don’t worry about getting the wrong book or wrong edition

All adult curriculum students are automatically enrolled in the Follett ACCESS program for this upcoming Fall 2021 semester, however, students can choose to opt-out of this fantastic program if needed.

In addition, please review the Roadmap to see the steps of the Follett ACCESS process. If you are not able to answer your question with this document, please do not hesitate to reach out to the MCC Bookstore for more information.

MCC Bookstore Textbook Purchases

If students choose to opt-out of the Follett Access program, students will still be able to purchase texts and supplies through the MCC Bookstore.

Students should go online to the MCC Bookstore website, set up an account, and purchase needed textbooks and supplies online. Online purchases may be paid with financial aid (if available) or out-of-pocket, as in past. With this option, students will be able to purchase and/or rent (if the item is listed rentable) books for their courses. If supplies are available, students may be able to drop into the physical MCC Bookstore location and purchase needed course textbooks and supplies. But it is recommended to contact the MCC Bookstore before making the trip to ensure the items is in stock.

Please note if you choose to opt-out of the Follett Access program and purchase your textbooks and supplies through the MCC Bookstore, these items may not be on site and will have to be special ordered and shipped. Please keep this in mind when ordering to ensure you will receive your textbooks and supplies in a timely manner for the start of your classes.

Textbook Buyback

At the end of the semester (or whenever you no longer need the textbook), the MCC Bookstore will buy back books based on the book’s current market value. Please contact the MCC Bookstore for additional information.

Additional Information

Financial Aid

Students may be able to use financial aid to pay for the costs associated with the Follett ACCESS program or to purchase needed books or supplies through the MCC Bookstore if the student chooses to opt-out of the Follett ACCESS program.
