Wildlife and Natural History of the High Country (6 hours)

The North Carolina High Country is a remarkable place. These mountains are also home to an incredible variety of wildlife. This class will explore the wide range of habitats and wildlife of the southern highlands - from birds to bears to salamanders. We will also get to meet some of the local wildlife in person! We will then visit Grandfather Mountain State Park and hike the first section of the Profile Trail to see some of the many ecosystems and wildlife that call these mountains home. The hike is considered easy to moderate,  with some elevation change. We won't be doing the strenuous sections of the trail further up the mountain.
