Mayland Community College and Appalachian State University Launch Guaranteed Transfer Program with Signing Ceremony Spruce Pine, NC – May 14, 2024

Mayland Community College (MCC) and Appalachian State University have officially signed an agreement for the Aspire Program, marking a significant advancement in higher education collaboration. This new transfer agreement guarantees MCC students admission to Appalachian State upon meeting program criteria.
The agreement was celebrated with a signing ceremony attended by leaders and representatives from both institutions.Dr. Boyd, President of Mayland Community College, emphasized the importance of the partnership. “This program not only facilitates a smoother transition for our students to higher education but also exemplifies our commitment to student success and educational accessibility,” stated Dr. Boyd.

The Aspire Program provides a structured pathway for MCC students, promoting a seamless transfer to Appalachian State University, which is renowned for its support of transfer students. This program is particularly crucial for students who initially faced challenges entering Appalachian State directly.
