On behalf of the faculty, staff, and administrators, let me welcome you to Mayland Community College. Mayland Community College’s mission is “to promote individual, community, and economic growth by providing affordable, high quality and easily accessible lifelong learning”. As we celebrate more than fifty years of success and our status as one of the top community colleges nationwide, we remain diligent to continually improve our efforts to help our students reach their goals and achieve a better quality of life. Whether fresh out of high school, going through a career change, or seeking a more active retirement, Mayland Community College is here to serve you.
Through our main campus located on the MitchellAvery County line, and our learning centers in Newland and Burnsville, I think you will find that we pride ourselves on individualized instruction, small class size, and a student-centered approach to learning. Whether students are seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate in our credit programs, or looking to improve skills through our Economic and Workforce Development/ Continuing Education classes, we strive to make education and services accessible, affordable, and convenient. The professional faculty and staff of MCC are dedicated to and uphold our values of community, excellence, and opportunity.
This year we are excited to continue our focus at MCC on our values of community, excellence, and opportunity. With expansions scheduled for Spruce Pine and our Earth to Sky Park, our intentions are to better serve our communities. Making education easily accessible to all helps create a better life for our students, their families, and our communities.
All of us at Mayland are committed to our vision “to be a dynamic community partner by attracting and retaining both working and retirement age residents by providing exceptional and innovative workforce and entrepreneurial education, broadening cultural opportunities, and advancing the quality of life”. I stand at the entrance to our gateway and welcome you on your educational journey. My door is always open and I welcome your feedback on our progress.
