Computer Lab Access

Lab access on all three campuses will be made available for students who do not have access to internet. Students must call the respective campus to schedule a block of time prior to arriving to ensure there is a space and proper social distancing. The students identified by Faculty as not having access to internet have been contacted by Student Services and given this information and if you refer new students please reserve the limited space for those without internet access.

Tutoring and Other Assistance

As Mayland transitions to online course delivery, face-to-face tutoring will not be available. However, there are several excellent resources for academic support available to you. Please take advantage of these resources, and reach out for assistance when needed.

    • Online Tutoring via NetTutor
    • A link to NetTutor is available as soon as you log in to Moodle. NetTutor is a free and very user-friendly Live Tutoring Service. It offers 24/7 help for English, Math, and Paper Writing (upload a draft and get it back with improvement suggestions). Many other subjects are offered according to the NetTutor Live Tutoring Schedule. (Direct Access to Free Online Tutoring links only work when you logged into Moodle.)
    • Virtual Academic Support Center
    • For online access to the Academic Support Center, you can email Ben Duncan at bduncan@mayland.edu to schedule a meeting via Zoom. Ben will be available and responding to emails during the ASC’s regular hours, 9:00 am-3:00 pm, Tuesday-Friday. He will provide instructions via email for accessing Zoom, which is very easy to use.

Moodle Issues:

The 24/7 Moodle Help Desk provides both real time help and a Frequently Asked Question section, so you can quickly get help if you get stuck while working in a course. The service offers both live telephone [(877)-909-3112] help as will a Chat feature.

Remember, if you have questions, you always have access to your instructors via phone or email. Please contact Dora Smith (dsmith@mayland.edu; 828-766-1260), the Tutoring Coordinator, if you have specific questions about tutoring or academic support.
