About the MCC Foundation

Welcome to 2015!

Spring is on the way!!!

We’re keeping busy here at the Foundation! There are plenty of GREAT projects to keep us going until warm weather is here to stay:

The Anspach Advanced Manufacturing School nears completion at Mayland’s Yancey Learning Center, and a classes will begin there in the coming weeks! A spring ribbon-cutting is planned.

Our attention is moving skyward—to the stars, even, as we work to build the Blue Ridge Star Park and Observatory. You can be part of this historic effort; in fact, you can name a star—or other astronomical body— for the donor wall. Just think—a star could be the PERFECT gift for Valentine’s Day or just because!

The Foundation awarded almost $127,000 in scholarships in 2014—it will be a fun challenge to make THAT great number even bigger for 2015! Making a quality education accessible is one of the Foundation’s major goals with respect to the Scholarship Program. We’ll celebrate DREAM (Dreams Realized Every day At Mayland) Day in April to honor student success and the generosity of those who have made that success possible.

Credit for SUCCESS at Mayland belongs to our dedicated faculty and staff and of course, to our DONORS, who share our vision for Community, Excellence, and Opportunity in the counties we serve.

P.S. : Do you have assets that aren’t working for you? Would you consider making a planned gift if someone could show you how? Call 828-766-1275 to learn more!

The Mayland Community College Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation, began in 1981 as a doorway for resources from the community at large to reach MCC. The Foundation’s mission is to support, strengthen and advance the work of Mayland Community College. The Foundation works to cultivate donor relationships for the college, provide scholarships for students, assist with funding for capital projects, host events and celebrate the college’s successes. Volunteers from all three counties in the college’s service area serve on the Foundation Board, including some membership from neighboring communities.

The Foundation office is located in Gwaltney Hall on the Mitchell Campus in Spruce Pine.
