Public University - UNC System
Here are the recommended courses for ASU.
Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina was founded in 1899 as Watauga Academy. It evolved into a state teacher’s college before gaining university status and becoming a member of the University of North Carolina.
With enrollment at just over 12,000 students, Appalachian offers approximately 100 undergraduate majors and more than 75 graduate majors. The student to faculty ratio is 16-to-1 and class size ranges from twelve to one hundred, according to the class or specific area of study. The campus consists of 72 principal buildings on more than 250 acres, but don’t worry about getting around. The town of Boone has a transportation system with stops at various places on the Appalachian campus.
Dorms and apartments are available for all students, including transfer students. Space is limited, however, so housing should be considered early in the acceptance process. The office of Residence Life will assist you with on-campus housing and they keep a list of off-campus rentals for students.

Public University - Out-of-State
Here are the recommended courses for ETSU.
East Tennessee State University is located in Johnson City, Tennessee in the mountains of East Tennessee. The college was established in 1911 as East Tennessee State Normal School. ETSU offers over 100 programs of study including Associate’s degrees, Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees, Educational Specialist, Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Education, and Doctor of Philosophy.
Adult students are the fastest-growing group on the ETSU campus, with students age 23 and older comprising 53 percent of the total student population. The Center for Adult Programs and Services meets the needs of adult students by assisting in their transition to the university. ETSU also has a variety of evening course offerings with more than 35 undergraduate and graduate degree programs that can be completed during the evening.
Enrollment at ETSU is around 12,000 students with a faculty-to-student ratio of 1 to 24 in undergraduate classes. Residence halls and on-campus apartments are available to traditional students and transfer students.
Transfer students may be eligible to participate in an honors program. Students who are admitted to these honors-in-discipline programs receive a waiver of out-of-state tuition. These programs are available in the College of Applied Science and Technology, College of Business and Technology, College of Nursing, and several departments within the College of Arts and Sciences. Contact the Counseling Center or the SOAR Transfer Specialist for information on these programs.

Private College
Here are the recommended courses for MHC.
Mars Hill College was founded in 1856 and is located in the small town of Mars Hill. Over 30 majors are offered at MHC and enrollment is just over 1,000 students. The student-to-faculty ratio is 13 to 1 and the average class size is 22 students. Students may choose from among 40 clubs and organizations, and there are numerous opportunities for participation in internships and community service. On-campus housing facilities are available for transfer students, yet commuting is permitted if desired.
MHC gives students who have earned an A.A.S. degree the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor's degree through reverse transfer. Programs are offered in areas such as social science, public services, business and computer technology, and more. Check the MHC catalog for details.

Public University - UNC System
Here are the recommended courses for UNCA.
Located in western North Carolina, the University of North Carolina at Asheville is one of the top six public liberal arts universities in the nation. It was first opened in 1927 as Buncombe County Junior College. After several name and location changes, the college joined the University of North Carolina system in 1969.
Enrollment is around 3,200 students with an average class size of around twenty-one. Students can choose from 30 different majors leading to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. The University sponsors about 80 student organizations and interest groups and there are a number of cultural and social events on campus, as well as an outdoor education program. On-campus housing is available for transfer students.
UNC-A requires transfer students to have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on all college level coursework. Students planning a transfer to UNC-A should note that there are four upper level general education requirements that must be met by taking courses at UNC-A after transfer. These courses include Humanities 324, Arts 310, and a library research requirement. Transfer students can best prepare for HUM 324 course by taking Western Civilization I and Western Civilization II at Mayland. The library research requirements should be addressed during the transfer student's first semester at UNC-A, as the course serves as an orientation to the resources and research tools available in the library.
UNC-A awards a two-year (four semester) $1,000 scholarship to a transfer student from Mayland who completes the A.A. and has a cumulative grade point average of 3.6 or higher.

Public University - UNC System
Here are the recommended courses for WCU.
Western Carolina University is located fifty-two miles West of Asheville in the town of Cullowhee in Jackson County. The college was founded in 1889 and in 1972 became a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina. WCU operates a satellite campus in Asheville, NC on the campus of UNC-Asheville.
Enrollment at WCU is around 6,500 students and the student-to-faculty ratio is 16 to 1. The average class size is around 20 students. More than 120 majors and concentrations are available to undergraduate students and there are around 110 different campus organizations. There are eleven residence buildings on campus and transfer students do have the option of living in the residence halls. Close to sixty-four percent of WCU students receive some form of financial aid, such as scholarships, grants, loans, or student employment.
WCU has implemented a Computer Admission Requirement for new freshmen which requires that all new full-time freshmen have a networkable computer. This requirement also applies to transfer students. See the WCU catalog for specifications.

Here are the recommended courses for GWU.
Gardner-Webb University is located in the Cleveland County town of Boiling Springs, in the Piedmont section of western North Carolina. Boiling Springs is a small rural town, but only 45 miles east is the city of Charlotte.
Gardner-Webb is a private university affiliated with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. It has grown steadily over the years and currently has an enrollment of 2,900 students. There is a policy requiring single students to live on-campus. This includes transfer students, however, exceptions are considered for several reasons (see the Gardner-Webb University Undergraduate Catalog). If married, one can find housing facilities off campus.
If you are an adult student who would like to earn a bachelors degree, then you might be interested in the Gardner-Webb University GOAL Program. GOAL (Greater Opportunities for Adult Learners) is designed to provide opportunities for working adults, who already possess an Associate degree, to earn a Bachelor of Science degree during evening hours. Unique advantages of the GOAL program include: 1) students may earn a bachelors degree in only two years by attending classes two nights a week, 2) the program is offered at fourteen sites, including Mayland Community College, throughout North Carolina, 3) classes are scheduled at times that are convenient for employed students, 4) tuition rates are 25% below on-campus costs, 5) there are seven majors offered throughout the program, 6) financial assistance is available, 7) books are delivered to you, 8) an academic advisor is assigned to each student, and 9) classes are accredited . The Gardner-Webb GOAL program provides the adult student with the opportunity to pursue degrees in the areas of Accounting, Business Administration, Health Management, Management Computer Information Technology, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Nursing.

Private College
Here are the recommended courses for LMC.
Lees-McRae College, known for its liberal arts degrees, is located in the village of Banner Elk, North Carolina. The college was founded in 1900 and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church.
Enrollment at Lees-McRae is around 450 students and all classes are small. Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees are offered in 20 different major areas of study. There are a number of campus clubs and activities including Student Government Association, the Wilderness Club, Honors Societies, and many more. There are also 14 intercollegiate athletic teams. On-campus housing is available for all students, including transfer.
Lees-McRae participates in federal financial aid programs and has a number of academic, athletic, performing arts and other scholarships available. Transfer students may be eligible for a Phi Theta Kappa scholarship and other transfer scholarships based on grade point average.
