Who Can Help
With College Transfer

In this section:

There are many people on campus who can assist you in transferring to a four year college. Read the list below to see who can provide you with the many different resources available on campus.

MCC Transfer Resources

Doug Dewar,
Coordinator, MCC Counseling Center

Doug coordinates the Counseling Center, which is also home to the Transfer Library. He can help you to get any information you need regarding college transfer including information about colleges, cross-walks, transfer agreements, catalogs, applications, view books, and much more. Doug can also help you with the process of choosing your major, and exploring career options, so that you can plan your education wisely.

Michelle Musich, Transfer Specialist
for the SOAR Program

The SOAR Program is a federally-funded program. Students who are eligible for the program can work one-on-one with the SOAR transfer specialist throughout their entire education, to prepare for the transition to the four-year college.  Admission into this student support services program is based on financial need, disability, or first generation college student factors. The program's services include yearly trips to all the local colleges, transfer workshops, and individual transfer counseling sessions. To apply, see the SOAR Program administrative assistant.

Rhonda Gunter & The Arts & Sciences Faculty

Rhonda Gunter coordinates advising in the Arts & Sciences Division. She and the many other advisors can assist you with college transfer advising. This includes helping you choose classes at Mayland that will transfer to your 4-year institution and providing you with insight into the entire transfer process. Each college transfer student should have a designated A&S advisor to provide registration assistance each semester.

Jackie Wemple & Melissa Wilson
MCC Admission/Retention Advisors

Visit the Admissions Website here.

Upon enrolling at Mayland, you are assigned an Admissions/Retention Advisor (ARA) who is available to assist you with any problems you might encounter during your education. This includes general transfer assistance. If you have a basic question, or need general information, they are easily accessible and happy to help, or to refer you to the right person for more specific assistance.

The College Transfer Library

The Career/Transfer library is located in the Counseling Center near the front entrance of the main building [map].  The library has catalogs for every college in the state plus an internet station that gives you access to information on almost every college in the country.  You can also apply to colleges on-line, or pick up an application to take home, as well as see which classes from Mayland will transfer to other colleges.
