Mayland Community College's Practical Nursing Diploma (PN) Program is a one-year program (three semesters).

Admission to the Practical Nursing Diploma Program is based on a competitive ranking system. Students who have completed the application process and met all requirements for admission will be placed in rank order according to the points accumulated.

Admission Requirements/Steps

The admission requirements for the PN Program include the following:

  1. Submit College Application to attend MCC.
  2. Submit program application, specifically for Practical Nursing.
  3. Submit high school transcript or state approved equivalent education diploma.
  4. Prove proficiency with previous college courses or achieve minimum scores on the Computerized Placement Test (CPT). The CPT must be taken within five years of application for admission to the nursing program.
  5. Achieve minimum passing score on the Nurse Entrance Test (NET).
  6. Have at least a 2.0 overall grade point average and a "C" or better in any previously taken non-nursing required courses.
  7. Be free from any physical or emotional disability that would prevent the performance of safe nursing duties.
  8. Complete all math and biology courses within five (5) years prior to application.
