Information
Visit the MCC Associate Degree Nursing Program Website here.
Eligible LPN's are allowed to enter MCC's Associate Degree Nursing Program with advanced placement in the summer semester. Because of limited enrollment, students must complete a competitive admissions process to determine which students will be accepted into the program. Applications are accepted August 1 through September 30 for admission the following spring semester.
Eligible LPN's must meet the following admission requirements to apply for Advanced Placement:
- Submit a Mayland Application Form and an Advanced Placement ADN Application Form between August 1 and September 30.
- Hold a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Practical Nurse in North Carolina or graduate from the MCC Practical Nursing Program.
- Complete preparatory courses described in the application packet.
- Achieve passing score on the National League for Nursing Acceleration Challenge Examination (NLN ACE).
- Provide documentation from a supervisor of at least six (6) months prior employment, or the part-time equivalent, as a LPN providing direct patient care in an acute care long-term care setting. This employment must have occurred within one (1) year prior to applying to the Nursing Program. Graduation from Mayland's Practical Nursing Program within six (6) months of admission is acceptable in lieu of employment.
- Submit documentation of IV therapy certification through a continuing education program such as MAHEC or documented IV therapy component through the employment setting.
- Achieve passing score on the Nurse Entrance Test (NET) given at MCC.
