The Phillips-Gwaltney
Child Development Center
Mayland Community College houses The Phillips-Gwaltney Child Development Center (PGCDC) a self-supporting laboratory school on the main campus in Spruce Pine, NC. The Phillips-Gwaltney Child Development Center offers quality childcare for MCC students, staff, faculty and the community. The Center provides a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and creative development of young children while responding to the needs of families. Through play, the children at the PGCDC learn to solve problems, make choices, and develop skills and form patterns for learning.
The Center boasts a 5-star rated license , as well as being accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This prestigious accreditation is only awarded to the top 5% of North Carolina’s childcare facilities. Teachers at the PGCDC are very qualified, with all lead teachers degreed in Early Childhood. Giving children he very best beginning is the focus of the Center.
Phillips- Gwaltney accepts applications on a first-come, first-serve basis, waiting lists are very common for most rooms and MCC students are given first priority.
