Mandated Performance Measures

The North Carolina Community College System has developed accountability measures and performance standards to be used to measure the effectiveness of the fifty-eight System colleges. These graphs and charts will give you information on those performance measures and how Mayland is doing.

This information is collected by the Mayland Community College Department of Institutional Research and Planning and was published in the 2006 Critical Success Factors for the North Carolina Community College System; 16th Annual Report in May 2006.

Progress of Basic Skills Students
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: 75% of Basic Skills Students will be progressing or have completed literacy goals.

Mayland Community College served 1,483 individuals in
Literacy programs in 2002-03. 80% of Basic Skills students completed their goal, progressed within the same level or moved to a higher level.
Passage Rate on Licensure & Certificate Examinations
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: An aggregate institutional first-time passage rate of 80% AND a minimum passage rate of 70% on any single exam.

Mayland offers state licensure and certification exams in Basic Law Enforcement Training (100%), Cosmetology (N/A), Emergency Medical Technician (63%), Registered Nursing (100%), Real Estate (41%) and Practical Nursing (88%).

PERFORMANCE STANDARD: Community college students will perform at equivalent levels of UNC native sophomores and juniors. 87.1% of community college transfer students will have a GPA of 2.0 or higher after two semesters at a UNC institution.
