Making dreams a reality
Mayland graduate Amanda Bentley says she would not have met her goal of
becoming a nurse without the support and assistance of the Workforce Investment Act Program.
The Workforce Investment Act provides funds for employment and training needs of adults, dislocated workers and youth.
JobLink Career Centers provide job seekers access to the tools they need
to manage their careers. The centers also help businesses connect with skilled workers.
"I was a single mother with a dream of becoming a nurse," said Bentley. "The people working with WIA were there to help make my dream a reality. Now as I move on to start work and begin my life, I will always be thankful for the help I received."
Bentley graduated from Mayland's nursing programin May, 2009, and will begin working as a nurse at High Point Regional Health System in the Women's Services Unit this fall.
