The Mayland Community College Foundation is now on Facebook! Check us out!
Over the past ten years, Mayland Community College has grown in enrollment, and the Mayland Community College Foundation has grown in endowment funding. Many of these generous and lasting gifts came to us because donors like you witnessed a culture of warmth and support for the education of students in addition to witnessing the lasting community benefits which come from having an institution of higher learning in our area.
Because of you, students like Debra, who dropped out of high school in 1990, are able to achieve their dreams of getting a college education. Debra went on to complete her GED at Mayland, and when her father was diagnosed with cancer, she decided to enter the Nursing program. Today, Debra is a Nurse Practitioner at Cancer Care in Asheville. Because of you, Gene, a non-traditional student, is living his dream right now as a first-year student in Mayland’s Electronics program. Crystal is another student, pursuing her Human Services degree. Crystal says that without the scholarship she received, she would be unable to attend college.
Because of you, the single mother who wants to provide more for her children by earning a degree and pursuing a better-paying, more fulfilling career can come to college. Because of you, the lifelong factory worker who got laid off when the plant shut down can come to college. Because of you, the young high school graduate whose family struggles to make ends meet can come to college.
Because of you, dreams do come true!
Mission Statement

How Your Gifts Help
When you make a contribution to Mayland’s Foundation, you are investing not only in students, but also investing in your community.
Every year, graduates from Mayland Community College enter the workforce right here in the tri-county area. Graduates from the Nursing and Medical Assisting programs are employed by Blue Ridge Regional Hospital and other local healtchare facilities to provide you with high-quality care when you are sick Graduates from the Early Childhood program care for your children at Phillips-Gwaltney Child Development Center and other area childcare facilities. Autobody graduates repair your cars, Cosmetology graduates cut your hair, Horticulture graduates grow your Christmas trees, and Electrical/Electronics graduates work on your phones or install your cable.
Look closely and you might find a Human Services graduate helping to care for an elderly or shut-in loved one. Your next loan officer or customer service representative might be a Business/Office Systems graduate. If you need a welding or metalworking technician, ask around. There's a Mayland grad out there who can do that, too!
The next time you hear a police siren answering a call, the person risking his/her life to protect our communities might be a graduate from Mayland's Criminal Justice or Basic Law Enforcement Training Program. Or the next time you attend a parent/teacher conference at your child's school, you might be meeting with one of MCC's many transfer students who has gone on to a four-year university to receive a bachelor's degree in Education.
The next time you think about the people who provide everyday services to make your life better and safer, you might be thinking about a Mayland graduate.
So who benefits from your gifts to Mayland Community College?
We all do!
