Play one of the finest golf courses in North Carolina and help local students, both at the same time. Linville Golf Club is a championship 18-hole course located next to the Eseeola Lodge in Linville, North Carolina. Designed by Donald Ross in 1924, players of this course are surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery and a creek that winds its way across the beautifully manicured fairways. Linville Golf Club is as challenging as it is spectacular, just one of the many reasons why it is one of the most esteemed golf courses in North Carolina.

“The Mayland Community College Foundation is thrilled to partner with Linville Golf Club for our benefit tournament,” said event coordinator and Foundation assistant, Martha Huskins. For a fee of $150 per player, golfers can enjoy a relaxing day on the green and the company of fellow golfers, knowing that they are supporting a worthy cause. In addition to great golf, the tournament features a putting contest with a cash prize and a hole-in-one competition for a new automobile.
We are working with our community sponsors to make the 2010 Drive for the Green our best golf tournament ever,” said Laura Laughridge, the Foundation’s Executive Director. “We are hoping for good weather and solid support from the local community, since all funds generated benefit the Foundation in its work to support Mayland students.”
The Mayland Community College Foundation, established in 1981, is a 501 c 3 non-profit corporation whose mission is to support, strengthen and advance the work of Mayland Community College. Some 1,700 students from across the high country area currently attend classes and programs offered at Mayland Community College. The Foundation gives financial assistance to students through scholarships and emergency loans, supports innovative ideas and programs, enlists community support for the college, sponsors special events to promote the college, and provides funding for renovations and capital improvements. By participating in the Foundation’s Annual Golf Tournament, golfers are making an investment in students as well as the community.
