Placement Testing Procedure
Placement Testing
Step 1) Each student must meet with a MCC admission advisor and complete an application for admission prior to testing.
Step 2) Study and prepare for the Accuplacer Placement test by accessing our study guide from the links below
Step 3) Call the MCC Admissions Office at 828-765-7351 ext. 222 to schedule a testing appointment. Testing appointments are available on Tuesday or Thursdays at 10 am or 2pm on the Spruce Pine campus and 4pm Wednesday’s at the Yancey Learning Center.
Step 3) If you are scheduled to take the Arithmetic or Algebra section of the placement test please bring your own calculator. You may bring a standard or scientific calculator for use during the test.
Pencil and paper will be provided by the test administrator for each student taking math portions of the exam.
Step 4) After you have completed the placement test you will be provided a copy of your test scores. Please keep this copy as a record for yourself.
REMEMBER THAT THE PLACEMENT TEST MUST BE TAKEN BEFORE YOU CAN REGISTER FOR CLASSES!
