Fuel Piping FP Re-Licensure(NEW)
This 6 hour course meets the requirements for re-licensure of individuals holding a fuel piping license and has been approved by the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating & Fire Sprinkler Contractors for continuing education credit. This course is not sponsored by the Board. Students should bring a current copy of the NC Fuel Gas Code Book to class.

HVAC Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (NEW)
Gain the skills necessary to become employed as an entry level heating and air conditioning technician. It is a comprehensive course focusing on the operating principles of heating and cooling systems with emphasis on safety, theory and principles of refrigeration, types of heating/cooling systems, Ohm's law, load calculation, troubleshooting using the various types of test equipment, servicing, repairing and installing components/entire systems, solar heating options, and employment of customer service techniques. This course is also designed as an exam prep course for those preparing to take the EPA certification exam. Application & fee information will be provided to students interested in applying for state certification. Students will be asked to purchase student insurance for this class which costs $1.25. Building Contractor’s Licensure Exam Prep
This course will prepare individuals for the Residential Builders licensing exam. During this 66 hour course students will cover topics including blue print reading, law and regulation review applicable to contractors, employment security laws and workers compensation. There will be extensive course study of the NC Residential Code, study questions, practice problems and exams. Students should bring a current copy of the NC Residential Contractor’s Code Book to class.

During this 50 hour pottery class students will discover hand building & wheel throwing techniques in a supportive classroom environment. Session includes 1 foil saggar (3pieces) and 1 horse hair firing (3 pieces). Students of all experience levels will explore exciting glazes with no firing fees in this course. This class provides the training and certificate needed to apply for the permit at any Sheriff’s Department in North Carolina. You must be at least 21 and a North Carolina resident.To attend class, you cannot have been convicted of any felonies or misdemeanor violent crimes. Bring 100 rounds of ammunition, a handgun, and a holster to the firing range portion of class ONLY. Bring a bag lunch. Do not bring firearms into the building on the Mayland Campus.
