Exploring PicNik Software (3 Hours)

PicNik software is an exciting program that students can utilize to edit, apply special effects, and art, or add fun enhancements to their personal photos! This software works on Mac, Windows, and Linux, and there is nothing to install on your computer since this program works over the Internet. It's fast, easy and fun to use. PicNik is a great way to create photo gifts.

Learn the basic skills needed to create your vision with this Adobe Flash class. Get creative with Flash's drawing tools and animate graphics through tweens while incorporating images. Electrical Contractor License Renewal (8 Hours)

This course is designed to provide electrical contractors with updated information on the latest changes in the National Electric Code, NC Electric Code, and local utility company requirements. When offered during fiscal year 2011-2012, this course meets the requirements of the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors for 8 contact hours of continuing education credit. This course is not sponsored by the Board. Students should bring a current copy of the NC Electrical Code Book to class. A one hour lunch break will be given.

Learn SMAW, GMAW, GTAW (stick, mig, and tig welding) as well as cutting. Power sources, wire-feed setup, maintenance, shielding gases, and safe practices will be covered. Computer Aided Drafting Design (24 Hours)

Get an introduction to the fundamentals, concepts, and techniques of Computer Aided Drafting (AUTOCAD). Students will explore areas of computer-aided design for floor plans, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, cabinetry, survey, wall sectional views and other fields that may utilize this tool. Certified Nursing Assistant I (160 Hours)

This state-required course for those wishing to become a CNA consists of classroom work, lab, and clinical rotations. At the end of the course a separate State approved agency administers the competency testing for a fee of $101. Six days of clinical rotation will be scheduled starting as early as 6:30am. Some Saturday class and lab participation may also be required. Random drug screening and criminal background checks may be required by the clinical sites. Hours could vary slightly depending upon instructional need. Students in this class may be eligible for Project Skill-Up scholarship funds, click here for more information.

NC Concealed Carry Handgun (10 Hours)

This class provides the training and certificate needed to apply for a handgun permit at any Sheriff's Department in NC. You must be at least 21 and a resident of NC. To attend this class, you cannot have been convicted of any felonies or misdemeanor violent crimes. Bring 100 rounds of ammunition, a handgun, and holster to the firing range portion of the class ONLY. Bring a bag lunch. From 1:00-6:00 pm will be the firing range portion of the class, so do not bring firearms into the MCC campus.

Couponing: The Great Shopping Game! (8 Hours) New!

Learn to organize and store coupon inserts and how to create a coupon binder. Jargon and local store policies will be explained. Marbled Paper Forming (8 Hours) New!

Marbling is a form of printing that goes back hundreds of years. Color is dropped on a medium and swirled with a variety of tools to create different designs and the print is made.This class will create unique pieces of marbled paper using food coloring, shaving cream, and card stock. Marbled paper forming is ideal for scrapbooking, handmade cards, origami boxes, and many other things.
