Defensive Driving Class Schedule

This program trains motorists in the principles of defensive driving and is made available by the District Attorney through Mayland COmmunity College, Mountain Professionals, Inc. and the Safety and Health Council of North Carolina.

ESL Classes

English as a Second Language classes are free at Mayland Community

WIA Programs

Mayland Community College's Workforce Development Programs provide training, educationand employment programs funded through both the federally funded Workforce Investment Act and North Carolina Employment and Training Programs to adult and dislocated workers.

The Get Real (Resource Employment Advancement Learning) System of Services offers resources for youth up through the age of 21 to help plan a career, get job experience, get advice on how to climb the career ladder and learn job training and searching skills.

The Get REAL and WIA Programs are administered through the JobLink Career Centers in Avery, Mitchell and Yancey Counties. For more info about these services call 733-3901 in Avery, 765-7758 in Mitchell or 678-9612 in Yancey county.
