Observational Astronomy (6 Hours)
A course for the beginning astronomer. Learn to use your telescope, star charts, and modern star mapping software to find your way around the night sky. By the end of the course you will be able set up and align the telescope, and to choose any celestial object you like (star, planet, nebula, galaxy, etc...), find it in the sky, and then see it up close through the telescope. We have some great telescopes for you to use, but we strongly encourage you to bring your own. Class will be held at MCC’s Blue Ridge International Dark Sky Park/EnergyXchange in Yancey County.
