Observational Astronomy (6 Hours)
A course for the beginning astronomer to learn to use a telescope, star charts, and modern star mapping software to find your way in the night sky. Learn to set up and align a telescope, choose any celestial object you like (star, planet, nebula, galaxy, etc…), find it in the sky, and see it through the telescope. Telescopes are available, but we strongly encourage you to bring your own. Class will be held at the Bare Dark Sky Observatory location at the Earth to Sky Park in Yancey County. This course requires a clear sky so classes may need to be rescheduled for weather.
