Apply for Continuing Education/Short-Term Credential Programs/Creative Learning

Mayland Community College offers over 25 programs in technical, vocational, and college transfer areas.  The College offers something for everyone. You can train for a new career, take transfer courses, enhance current skills, learn a new skill, and much more.  

MCC is part of the 58-campus North Carolina Community College System and we partner with area colleges and universities to offer college transfer options to students who want to start their bachelor’s degree at MCC. We also offer hybrid and online options and operate learning centers in Newland (Avery County) and Burnsville (Yancey County).

Steps to Apply

blue arrown   Step 1: Complete your Residency Determination Survey and write down your 

                            Residency Certification Number(RCN).

blue arrown   Step 2: Complete the MCC application for admission.  
                        To access the application, choose Google Chrome Google Chrome logo  or

                        Mozilla Firefox Firefox logo as your browser. 

blue arrown   Step 3: Request your high school and post secondary transcripts to be sent to MCC.

blue arrown   Step 4: Apply for Financial Aid at www.fafsa.edu.gov and schedule a meeting

                           with a financial aid advisor.

blue arrown   Step 5: Make an appointment with the Counseling Center if undecided about a

                           major and/or four-year college.

blue arrown   Step 6: Schedule an appointment with an Admissions/Retention Advisor
