How to access articles through the LRC

In this section:

In addition to materials that are housed in the Periodical Section of the LRC, there are several online resources available to students.

NC Live

Access NC LIVE online here.

North Carolina Libraries for Virtual Education (NC LIVE) offers the citizens of North Carolina online access to complete articles from over 9,000 newspapers, journals, magazines, and encyclopedias, indexing for over 20,000 periodical titles, and access to over 22,000 electronic books.

Information about NC LIVE including how to use it and browser requirements is available here.

NC LIVE can be accessed from within an affiliated library or from home.

Please Note:

NC LIVE requires a password for off-campus access.

Mayland Community College may only issue passwords to currently enrolled Mayland students and Mayland employees. Passwords change every semester.  Students from other colleges will need to contact their library. Community patrons may obtain an NC LIVE password from their local Public Library.

The LRC's NC LIVE Password Form in Adobe Acrobat format can be downloaded here. It requires the free Adobe Reader software to open, which can be downloaded here.

The completed form faxed to the LRC at (828) 765-2327 or scanned and attached to an email sent to lrc@mayland.edu or mailed to:

Learning Resources Center
Mayland Community College
200 Mayland Drive
Spruce Pine,  NC  28777

NC LIVE is generously supported by the General Assembly and the citizens of North Carolina. Generous support for some of the independent college and university libraries has been received from The Duke Endowment and The Cannon Foundation.
