Health Insurance: Full-time and annual part-time employees are eligible to participate in the North Carolina State Health Plan. The Plan offers a choice of three options that include minimal or no premium cost. Dependent coverage is available at group rates and premiums will be payroll deducted on a pre-tax basis. Coverage is through the State Health Plan.

NC Flexible Benefits: Various employee paid policies covering dental, vision, cancer, accidents, disability and life are available. Medical and dependent care reimbursement plans are also available. Retirement: Retirement benefits are provided through the North Carolina Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System for all full-time and annual part-time employees. Employees and MCC share in the cost and participation is required. Employee contribution 6% of their gross monthly wages and salary on a tax deferred basis. Vesting (the right to a monthly income benefit) occurs after five years of creditable service. www.myncretirement.com
Some benefits of North Carolina Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System are: Disability Income Plan (short-term disability), Long-Term Disability, and Death Benefit.
Disability Income Plan: - An employee must be contributing to the retirement system for at least one year. A 60-day waiting period is required. Short-term disability benefit is 50 percent of monthly salary up to a maximum of $3,000 per month and pays for 365 days. Long-Term Disability: - An employee is eligible after five years contributory service if the employee becomes totally and permanently disabled for work. During the first 36 months of disability, the plan benefit is 65 percent of salary up to $3,900 per month. Death Benefit: - While you are receiving benefits through the Disability Income Plan of NC (DIPNC), you are considered to be in service and covered under the death benefit which is equal to the highest 12 months’ salary in the previous 24 months. The benefit is calculated using a percentages of your salary, but no less than $25,000 and a maximum of $50,000 if employee dies after one year of contributing service in the Retirement System. Employee Assistance Program: The College has prepaid the cost of five diagnostic referral and counseling sessions for employees and family members (immediate members of the household). Employees can use the EAP on a self-referral basis. The Program is confidential and provides professional assistance in problem identification and resolution. Visit: www.eannc.com
